Finally, a bit of clarification

Okay, I found an article cover the trustee meeting that explains a lot… Here it is, courtesy of the North Carolina Biblical Recorder: IMB won’t remove blogging trustee but prohibits dissent in future actions.

I appreciate the report that the trustees have a new appreciation for the passion and “fearless” nature of younger leaders. I am thrilled with the new guideline affirming a need to speak in love to and of others (trustees, IMB staff, missionaries, etc.). But the prohibition on public dissent by trustees? This is still most alarming, particularly given that trustees are accountable to the SBC as a whole. Such a prohibition eliminates their ability to express well-founded concerns to whom they are accountable! Yes, they can resign to do so… but that fuels the problem for which they dissent, no?

I had hoped that our trustees would diffuse this entire mess this week. Today, I still find myself most disappointed.
