I feel very sick right now

March 22nd, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in » Baptist Issues

Well, the IMB Trustees have moved forward with a replacement for the blue book, effectively silencing any criticism of adopted policies from those who would know best… other trustees. The minority voice will no longer be heard.

I feel absolutely sick.

Have faith, though, friends. This seems a dark hour, yes… but God is still in control and is using this situation right now to accomplish His will.

I (for one) can’t wait to find out what that is.

Pray for our IMB Trustees Today!

Obviously, we always need to be in prayer for those in leadership positions in our convention, but based on Wade’s account of yesterday’s happenings, we especially need to do so today. Readers… PLEASE PRAY TODAY!

Trustees… please do not take steps to silence principled dissent. Such an action will undermine any trust you have remaining amongst young leaders throughout our convention! For the sake of unity… for the sake of missions… can’t we just agree to disagree on certain issues? Why divide our convention unnecessarily?

missionsconneXion.com!

Tuesday evening, I posted about a new ministry opportunity I was considering starting. Wednesday evening, God made it clear to me that I needed to pursue it. Today, I’m pleased to announce that missionsconneXion.com, the product of that vision, is now up and running.

Basically, missionsconneXion.com is an online forum intended to create a world-wide online community to promote unity amongst missions-minded individuals (missionaries, missions supporters, missions executives… whomever has a heart for missions). The site will hopefully provide a place of comfort, encouragement, edification, education, involvement, and expression for such people throughout the world.

Hopefully, you’ll be seeing more about the site in the coming weeks… not just here, but in Christian blogs throughout the blogosphere. I’m praying that God will use this site in amazing ways!

One last thing… I could not have done this without Micah Fries. Micah, you are an awesome friend and brother in Christ, and I’m immensely excited to have you onboard, partnering in this new ministry!

Dawn 2006!!

Thought I’d bump this post to the front… Dawn 2006 begins tonight!
————————————————————————————

Here’s an event you won’t want to miss… Dawn 2006, hosted by Missouri Valley Baptist Church.

I can’t say enough about how exciting an opportunity this is to get informed about missions and inspired to participate! Micah (micahfries.com) and other Missouri Valley staff have done an awesome job getting this organized. Just check out the list of speakers!

I may be going out on a limb here, but I’ll say it anyway… if you’re interested in attending any portion of this event, but are from out of town and aren’t sure if you can afford to rent a hotel for a few days… let me (or Micah) know. Surely we can do something to get you fixed up with a place to stay while you’re here.

Dreaming Big…

Well… if you know me, you know I usually tend either to jump into ministry opportunities with both feet (before looking too closely and without much prayer or thought), or to be dragged into them after a painfully large amount of deliberation… it’s almost invariably one or the other. With that in mind, I’ve got a new ministry idea running through my head, and I could definitely use some prayer about it.

I’ll share more in the coming days and weeks (unless God slams a couple doors shut immediately), but suffice it to say that this idea would be a big commitment, but could have far-reaching impacts (probably in ways I can’t begin to envision).

Anyway, say a prayer on my behalf today if you wouldn’t mind, specifically that God would open whatever doors are necessary to make this opportunity happen if it is indeed His will. Also pray for those few close to me with whom I’ve shared this idea, specifically that they would provide wise Biblical counsel in this matter.

Thanks!
