Verse-O-Matic Update, or… Name that Blog Section!

I had initially named the section containing the “verse-o-matic” plugin “Random Bible Verse”. After further thought (and after a suggestion from one of the readers of this blog), that title sounds a bit like I’m treating Scripture passages a bit non-chalantly. So… since I’m running a bit low on creativity, we’re having a contest to name that section of the blog. The winner will get… um… well… something. Can’t do Starbucks gift certificates… that’s been done (Dorcas Hawker). I’d do an autographed copy of my book… but that wouldn’t be very original either (not to mention the fact that I haven’t written a book!). So… how about this… let’s extend the contest a bit further, we’ll allow readers the opportunity to name the prize too ($10 or less, please… I’m not made of money!).

So… two questions:

1. What should I name the “Verse-O-Matic” section of the blog?
2. What should the prize(s) for this contest be? ($10 or less).

All entries must be submitted by midnight on July 4th! Winners will be announced the following day.

    Glad to hear the good news about VBS. We’re doing ours in about three weeks. I assume you are taking an offering during the course of Bible school, and that it will be used for some mission purpose.

    If no one else enters this little contest of yours, and I win by default, the prize should be that you add $10 to that VBS offering and save some postage…

    Let’s put it this way… you’re not gonna win by default, even if it means I have to make up a couple aliases and post a few of the rejected ideas I had considered in lieu of “Random Bible Verse”. I will not allow this contest to go without entrants!!! :)

    Okay, here’s a few ideas:

    “Truth Tidbit”
    “Scripture Snippet”
    “Word of the Moment”
    “The Bible Says…”
    “Truth for Today”
    “Bible Bits”
    “Spiritual Sustenance”

    An alternate idea to the contest would be to just delete this thread and go with one of my own ideas… :)

    I might go with a colon after it, though, rather than the elipsis, depending on how it looks.

    For what it’s worth.

    If I win, put $10 in the VBS offering – if you win, you should probably send me a Starbucks gift card, don’t you think? ;-)

    Not a terribly exciting title, but with two entrants and me having a vast lack of creativity, we’ll go with that for now.

    I’d thank everyone else, but it’s just been you and me on this one. Of course, if I’d have told everyone there was a Starbucks card on the line up front, maybe we’d have at least had a bit of competition… surely Kevin would have chimed in too! Maybe next time…
