Savage Controversies…

I ran across the following quote this morning, and thought it very much applicable to SBC matters…
The most savage controversies are those about matters as to which there is no good evidence either way.

Just thought I’d share.

Here’s a rub… Controversy and disagreement in and of itself isn’t a bad thing. It can improve us just as iron sharpens iron. The key difference is the attitude of those disagreeing.
When you read many of the bloggers’ writing you see not a spirit that appears to desire to encourage others or to help them grow in Christ; instead, you see a desire to win arguments, to promote oneself, to prove to be right, to put others in their place, to fight. That spirit is not of God.
When people disagree but do so in a loving way it can really impact many in a positive way. I sure do pray that the Holy Spirit will get a hold of many in the Body today to move us toward the goal of making every effort to create unity in Christ.
