More RSS Feed Changes…
February 11th, 2008 | Posted in » Site News...
Due to a couple of bottom-feeding websites that are using my RSS feed in an unauthorized manner (namely, republishing it in an attempt to draw ad traffic!), I’ve implemented a change today that truncates what’s available via my feed, forcing you to visit the site to see full posts.
My apologies to all of you who keep up with the site through feed readers! I really hate to do this to you, but it’s the only way I can gain more control of how and where my content is published.

No offense, John, but this probably means I won’t be reading your stuff any more, as I don’t have time to hit a website for every feed I follow. Best of luck to you!

Bernard,
Would it be a good compromise to include more of a snippet of the post so you can tell from the intro if there’s something here you want to read?
In my haste to correct the problem, I didn’t really think that it might be a real issue for people who subscribe to the feed. I’d hate to have any of my readers miss out (not that I generally have much of significance to say, of course) simply because I’m having trouble with inappropriate use of my feed!

More than just two or three sentences, because I just really DON’T have time to do it the “old fashioned” way. I scan a LOT of blogs for content, and while I generally like what you write, it’s highly unlikely that I would have time to click on every post to see what it’s about.
I’m not trying to be rude, that’s just a fact. Hope I’m not coming across wrong

With the feed publisher I’m using, I’ve found I can’t publish as much of an intro as I’d like to provide readers plenty of info to decide if they want to read the post (apparently, I’m limited to a smaller number of characters than I’d like to publish).
Since those who were republishing my feed for profit appear to have stopped, it now seems best to restore the whole feed.
Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused!
