Trillion Dollar Deficits?!?

Wow… president-elect Obama is predicting trillion dollar deficits… for “years to come”.
Now, I’m not a brilliant economist by any means, but isn’t it a bit stupid for our elected officials to approve a budget that plans on a trillion dollar deficit? After all, we’re gonna have to pay this stuff off someday. Who’s gonna bail out the government?
Maybe that crazy Russian was right…
Yet another indication we’ve got politicians with no common sense… both Democrats AND Republicans. These guys wouldn’t dare plan to spend more than they make if it involved their own money, yet it’s perfectly fine to do just that thing when it involves taxpayer dollars…

Most economists believe that the fallout from not running up a huge deficit, at least doing it for a year or so, would be much worse. I have heard some say it would be “torches in the streets” worse because of how many people would be out out of jobs and or in serious difficulty.
By the way, I really like your site. Have visited it on a number of occasions.
