Check this out… at a recent meeting between our newly elected President, Barack Obama, and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the two exchanged gifts.
For Barack? The British PM brought a hand-crafted pen holder, created from wood timbers from the 19th century warship HMS President. This ship was instrumental in combatting the slave trade, and was sister ship to the HMS Resolute, from which a desk that has sat in the Oval Office since 1880 was made.
For Prime Minister Brown? Our oh-so-thoughtful president gave a 25-DVD set of American movies. A DVD set. For a person who is BLIND in one eye! And wait… it gets better… American DVDs don’t usually work in British players!
And I thought I was bad at giving gifts…
