My Musical Debut…
June 11th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in » Church Stuff..., My Life / Family, Upcoming Events
This Sunday, I’ll be playing guitar publicly for the first time, helping to lead worship with my friend Paul Damery at our church (Missouri Valley Baptist). We haven’t decided whether I’ll be playing electric or acoustic yet… I suppose that just depends on what sounds better. Whatever the case… I expect that it will be both fun and terrifying, somehow all rolled into one. We’ll see which emotion I’m left with when all is said and done…
I would ask one thing of those of you who’ll be in attendance… don’t get your hopes up too high for me, and be gentle when I inevitably mess up. Remember, I’m an amateur at this… I’ve only been playing for a year and a half now.
For those of you who have done this before… any advice?
David Glenn: Cancelled
March 16th, 2007 | Comments Off | Posted in » Church Stuff..., Upcoming Events
What a bummer! We received news late last night that David Glenn’s visit to St. Joseph has been cancelled. After several weeks of excitement about the event, it turns out that all the planning will simply be for our normal Sunday morning worship service.
Of course, that’s FAR from a bad thing… our worship team is AWESOME. If you had planned a special visit to our church this Sunday to see David… come anyway! I promise you’ll be just as blessed by their music as you would be by David’s.
David Glenn at MVBC

Cool news from my church (Missouri Valley Baptist) today… David Glenn will be joining us to lead us in worship on March 18th!
David is an up and comer in the Christian music scene, and is particularly known for his contributions to modern worship music. We’re definitely blessed to have him join us.
Be sure to spread the word, and be there if you can!
Dawn 2006!!

Thought I’d bump this post to the front… Dawn 2006 begins tonight!
————————————————————————————
Here’s an event you won’t want to miss… Dawn 2006, hosted by Missouri Valley Baptist Church.
I can’t say enough about how exciting an opportunity this is to get informed about missions and inspired to participate! Micah (micahfries.com) and other Missouri Valley staff have done an awesome job getting this organized. Just check out the list of speakers!
I may be going out on a limb here, but I’ll say it anyway… if you’re interested in attending any portion of this event, but are from out of town and aren’t sure if you can afford to rent a hotel for a few days… let me (or Micah) know. Surely we can do something to get you fixed up with a place to stay while you’re here.
SBC Younger Leaders Meeting — June 12th!
February 22nd, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in » Baptist Issues, Upcoming Events
I meant to post this a couple days back, but have been away from the blog for a bit and hadn’t gotten to it.
Marty Duren has announced that the second SBC Younger Leaders meeting will be held in Greensboro, NC, in conjunction with the 2006 SBC annual meeting. The meeting will be held in the War Memorial Auditorium on Monday night, June 12th, at 9:30 PM. The auditorium seats about 2,000 people, and will be available for a full two hours (the program is only 45 minutes long, so there will be plenty of time to fellowship afterwards).
I’m excited about this… not only will this be my first convention meeting (which is cool in and of itself), but the chance to worship and fellowship with other young Baptists? I can hardly wait!
I DEFINITELY need to finalize my travel plans…
Wade Speaking in Columbia, Missouri…
February 16th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in » Baptist Issues, Upcoming Events
Was doing a bit of web searching this morning, and ran across this article in The Pathway (the newsletter of the Missouri Baptist Convention, which supplanted the Word and Way a couple years back… another controversy altogether). Apparently, Pastor Wade Burleson will be visiting Columbia, Missouri, on February 24th to speak about IMB trustee issues.
Sounds like a great opportunity to get some more information on the issues, especially in light of yesterday’s announcement that the IMB trustee executive committee will be recommending to rescind action to remove Wade as a trustee. Still awaiting an official statement from Tom Hatley (trustee chairman) and a response from Wade.
